Fall Reunions, Reflections, and Upcoming Events

Dear Hill-Murray Community,

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, especially since it marks the beginning of a new school year. As you can imagine, the recent July-like temperatures have thrown me for a bit of a loop. Nonetheless, our students, faculty, and staff are back in full swing and we are off to a great start. I had the pleasure of being with our amazing alumni from the 1964 classes of Archbishop Murray Memorial and Hill High School, who were back on campus last week for their 60th Reunion. I thoroughly enjoyed going down a bit of memory lane with our alums. I heard stories about shenanigans from their day, snippets from what they remember about their teachers, and lots of laughs and smiles as they reminisced about their time at Hill and Archbishop Murray. It says a lot that they come back to celebrate their sense of community and support us today as we continue to provide students with an excellent Catholic school experience.

I shared with them that Hill-Murray welcomes close to 1,100 students through our doors each day.  Built on the solid traditions and hard work of those who have gone before us, we are poised as one of the premier Catholic schools in the state. Our enrollment has grown steadily in the past decade, and we continue to attract a diverse student body. With the support and generosity of those who believe in Hill-Murray, our tuition assistance fund allows us to ensure that all families who desire a Catholic education, and want to be Pioneers, can make the dream a reality. I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to thank all of you for your generous support.

As you know, we have a deep and lasting relationship with the Sisters of St Paul’s Monastery. You might have an image of nuns as always in the chapel praying, or walking their sacred grounds in silence – although if you know Sister Linda, silence is not one of the words that would come to mind! While our sisters do spend time in prayer in their chapel three times a day, they are also up for fun!

I was blessed to take six sisters from St. Paul’s Monastery, along with Dr Skinner, on a boat ride yesterday on the St. Croix thanks to an amazing Hill-Murray family. To say we had a good time is an understatement. The sisters thoroughly enjoyed the ride and it was such a beautiful way to celebrate our connection and relationship.

In closing, I would like to highlight a few upcoming events.
