Director of The Pioneer Institute for Health & Wellness

Description

Responsibilities: 
1) Innovative Curriculum Development and Delivery (0.3 FTE)

  • Provide inspiration, guidance, and oversight to faculty in creating, revising, and implementing innovative and relevant course offerings that support student health and wellness.
  • Provide and/or curate training and professional development for faculty who teach the Pioneer Pathway courses and health classes, select PE/Wellness courses, and other courses where health and wellness themes are incorporated into the intentional curriculum.
  • Create and sustain programming for students in grades 6-12 that meets the safe environment curriculum requirements. (for example, internet safety, relationship health, sexual abuse)
  • Create and sustain a human sexuality curriculum for grades 6-8, including a partnership with parents.

2) Guidance & Counseling / Student Support Services (0.4 FTE)

  • Provide leadership in developing and sustaining student support services that address relevant topics and issues facing young people.
  • Provide leadership in enhancing the postsecondary/college and career planning process that includes a goal-oriented balanced approach while being attentive to health and wellbeing.
  • Create and sustain programming for parents that supports the Pioneer Way for Parents approach to helping students develop the attributes described in the Hill-Murray portrait of a graduate.
  • Partner with the Athletic and Activities office to provide resources and guidance on meeting student-athletes mental health needs.
  • Partner with the Office of Student Life and the Student Support Team to ensure that students and families receive crisis care and ongoing support as necessary and appropriate.

3) Health, Wellness, and Medical Career Development for Students (0.15 FTE)

  • Partner with the HOSA Advisor to create unique and innovative opportunities for students to engage with professionals in the field.
  • Create and sustain connections with medical, health, and wellness alums to engage their direct involvement with current students, faculty, and staff on PIHW initiatives.
  • Partner with college counselors to position Hill-Murray as a feeder school for nationwide medical, health, and wellness postsecondary programs.

4) Faculty/Staff Wellness Programming (0.15 FTE)

  • In partnership with the Director of Human Resources, create and sustain initiatives and programming designed to support and improve the health and well-being of faculty and staff.
  • Engage faculty and staff input and feedback regarding initiatives related to positive employee retention and morale and implement initiatives as feasible and appropriate.

Nurse

Summary:

  • The Registered Nurse 1 position will support the students of 622 by triaging student health concerns in the health office, planning for students with health conditions, and managing the health needs of our students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the MN Board of Nursing

  • Current CPR certification

  • Valid Driver’s License (in-district travel required)

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations

  • Commitment to confidentiality regarding students and staff

  • Skilled in developing and maintaining good working relationships with school personnel and the community
