Comings, Goings and Events at H-M around the Holidays

Dear Hill-Murray Community,

I wish you could all feel the excitement and anticipation in the hallways at Hill-Murray right now as students and teachers prepare for final exams and a much-needed Christmas break. I love this time of year. There’s always a sense of nostalgia yet a renewed energy for what’s to come in the New Year.

A matinee performance of A Christmas Carol: The Musical today at Hill-Murray.

Today we welcomed students from neighboring schools for the matinee performance of A Christmas Carol: The Musical.  I am amazed and in awe of the talent of our students and faculty. The production is incredible and shows off the artistic aptitude of so many individuals.

The deep commitment to our kids and their interests extends far beyond the theater and into every classroom and onto every athletics playing surface at our school. I can’t thank the teachers, coaches, and advisors enough for their dedication and steadfast commitment to every child at Hill-Murray, particularly with COVID-19 continuing to impact our lives. Our COVID dashboard shows that our numbers remain low, but, as the community spread accelerates, we will continue to encourage everyone to make safe, smart decisions as we gather for the holidays with family and friends.

We’re also saying goodbye and good luck to some familiar faces. Anne Becker, who has worked at Hill-Murray for 16 years and supported four school presidents, is retiring to spend more time with her first grandchild, Lucy. Good luck, Anne, and THANK YOU for all you’ve done for the school over the years. I know it takes patience and professionalism to work with school presidents!

Anne is like many of our staff members here, including myself, whose children have graduated from Hill-Murray. There’s something pretty magical about being able to work in a school that your child attends, and we continue to expand and look for committed people, just like Anne, to join our community. Check out the H-M careers page and our food service provider, FLIK’s openings.

Lastly, this week we were fortunate to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, with Fr. Peter Williams who is the pastor of Saint Ambrose. His message of saying YES to God in all things and at all times inspired all of us and embodies the true Hill-Murray spirit.

I’m wishing all of you a safe weekend!
